This booked helped to fill in some of the gaps left by the show, and at the same time raised some new ones. I recommend this book to die hard fans of the heroes series. You will not get the full experience if you don't pick it up.

If you are a Heroes fan you should get this. The art is great and the stories are equally good. This is NOT just a redo of the show. It is extensions, fill-ins and extra stories streaming along the same vein as the TV show. I just finished this one and I can't wait for volume 2!

All I have to say is i love the series and had to buy the book. The book was really amazing. You may basically know whats going on because the book came out after season 1 basically...but it does take you behind the show. Gives you a lot more info that isn't seen on the TV show. I dont want to give out too many details...but all Im saying is, if you love the TV series...you MUST get this graphic novel...you wont be disappointed, I guarentee!

Before I begin the review, let's get a few things straight. This is a hardcover collection of the "Heroes" webcomics released during the first season of the show. They've been referred to as "graphic novels," but that they're not. They're four-six page webcomics. Some of them are standalones, some of them are backstory, and some of them just flesh out moments and expand on episodes (such as "what happens after/between _____" kind of stories). The book itself is a beautiful, sturdy hardcover and the texture of the pages is really nice.
The material here ranges from fantastic, to passable, to horrible. The art, for the most part, is definitely good, and--other than the really bad pencils in the first chapter of "Walls"--you can always understand who each character is. There are a lot more cheesy lines and roll-your-eyes dialogue here than in the show, and it's hard not to think of a lot of this as scrapped material that just wasn't good enough to make the cut, but not all of it is like that. Quite a bit is, and it's hard to get through the beginning of this volume, but from the middle to the end, there is a chunk of some really good stuff.
I particularly like the Hana Gitelman stories. They took an character original to the webcomics (who eventually crossed over into the actual show!) and made her have a story that really did count in the actual larger arc of "Heroes." You certainly don't have to read any of it to understand the show, but the part she plays really ties in nicely to the continuity of Season One, without feeling like it's just some supplemental material like a lot of these stories.
As I said, the beginning stories--with the exception of "Life Before Eden"--were generally weak, but it's worth getting through them to read the rest. It's definitely not essential and not all of it is great, but for a "Heroes" fan, the majority of it will entertain.
6/10

I love the show 'Heroes,' but this isn't the show. This compilation of the on-line comics is nice to read, but not essential to the enjoyment of the show even though it does add to the cache of information the show offers. The artwork is not very good at all in some of the mini-issues, and the writing is minimalistic.
If you like comic books and the show, I recommend you read this. If you like the show but don't like comic books, don't come near this. If you don't like the show but love comics, stay away.
I'm glad my library had this in stock! I'd have hated to pay for it just to get 30 minutes of entertainment.
