Clark Kent gets hit

Eric Summers holding on for his life

Tom Welling as Clark Kent

Leech starts out with a school field trip where we meet Eric Summers the son of one of Clark's teachers Mr. Summers. The class is on a rock finding trip. Eric finds a meteor rock which does little to impress his father. Mr. Summers seems to be the type of father that rides Eric constantly, and Eric doesn't seem to be one of the most popular kids at school.

Once the field trip is over and all the kids are on the bus, Mr. Summers realizes Eric is not on board. Clark volunteers to go find him. Clark super speeds his way to the dam where Eric is hovering over the edge with his arms stretched out and a meteor rock in one hand. A bolt of lightening hits a couple of feet away from Eric causing him to fall. Clark reaches out for him and at that moment a bolt of lightening strikes him. Clark is barely able to pull up Eric who is strangely glowing.

The next day, Jonathan Kent asks Clark to help him get the truck out of the mud. Clark pushes with everything he has but he only falls into the mud. Martha Kent is concerned as well as Jonathan who tells Clark to go ahead and go to school. Clark tries to run off and realizes his speed is gone too.

At Eric's house, Eric learns he doesn't need glasses anymore. Mr. Summers lectures Eric about the danger he put his fellow classmate in, and he almost hits Eric when he grabs his father's arm at super speed to his dad's amazement.

At school Clark starts to learn what life is like without super powers. P.E. class is now very painful. And for no reason, Clark's nose starts to bleed while he asks Eric if he feels all right. Clark walks away, and Eric begins to bench press 600 pounds like it was nothing.

In Lana's world, Aunt Nell decides to put up the flower shop for sale, and Whitney is so busy taking care of his sick father's business that he can't get his homework done.

Meanwhile back at the farm, Clark finds out it take hours to do his chores that normally only took a few minutes. Jonathan gives Clark a small pep talk.

Lex Luthor is back to studying the accident that Clark saved him from, with the use of a computer graphics program. Lex decides to pay Clark a visit on the farm. Lex wants to know what really happened that day. He tells Clark that he believes that he hit Clark at 60 miles an hour, and that Clark ripped off the roof to save his life. He explains to Clark that he is the closest thing he has had to a real friend his whole life and that he doesn't have to hide anything from him. Clark responds by asking Lex to hit him with a hammer. Lex says no, and then tells Clark he just wants the truth. Clark angrily responds," The truth is I' m just a guy who tried to do the right thing. Isn't that enough?" Clark walks off.

The next day, Chloe Sullivan and Pete Ross are walking downtown, when a man steals Chloe's purse. Eric runs in front of the thief and tells him to give it back. The man tries to knife Eric and the knife breaks into a million pieces on Eric's hand. Eric then throws the thief through a window being carried on a passing truck nearby to the amazement of Chloe and Pete. This makes the paper which interestingly enough is headlined " Superboy Smallville's newest hero".

Eric becomes super popular at school, and Clark finds out he is no longer hurt by Lana's kryptonite necklace. Since he doesn't have to worry about hurting anyone anymore Clark even decides to play a game of basketball with the guys. Clark has the time of his life even though he loses.

Lex Luthor meets with Victoria and her father Sir Harry Hardwick. With the information Victoria had stolen from Lex's laptop, Sir Harry advises Lex that he had just bought Catmus Labs. A project Lex said he had been researching for a year. Lex remarks that Sir Harry will buy Luthor Corp outright with the profits.

Eric goes home only to find his parents are afraid of him, and have made an appointment with a professor at Metropolis. Eric feels like he is being treated like a freak, and grabs his father and holds him off the ground. Eric tells his father that no one can stop him.

At school, Eric puts the moves on Holly a girl with a large jock boyfriend named Brent. He has been eyeing her for sometime. The jock pushes Eric and he just smiles, then suddenly he rams his fist through truck mirror. Brent runs and crawls underneath a Ford truck. Eric picks up one end of the truck and Brent hurries away for his life. Eric effortlessly with one arm, throws the truck for several flips. Everywhere Brent goes Eric pops up in front of him. Finally he throws Brent in the air onto a table. Clark tries to calm Eric down and gets thrown several feet into the air to land onto the roof of a car. When Holly yells, " Get away from us you Freak!" Eric runs off at super speed.

Clarks ends up going to the hospital to make sure nothing is broken. Lex stops by to see how he is doing. Clark responding to an earlier conversation where Lex thought Clark was hiding something said, "Did you come by to make sure I was hurt." Lex says,"I wanted to make sure you were alright." Clark responds, "Yeah, never better, maybe we can go out into the parking lot and you can hit me with your car." Lex apologizes.

Eric comes back home, where his parents are afraid and have called the police. Martha Kent hears about some trouble from the Summers home, and Clark decides he has to go stop Eric.

In the meantime, Lex meets with Sir Harry Hardwick and Victoria again. Sir Harry has found out that Catmus Labs are worthless. Victoria remarks that she had read the report, and Lex lets her know what she read was a work of fiction he had put on his laptop on purpose just for her. Lex Luthor tells Sir Harry that his father and he would be placing an offer on Sir Harry's business in the morning. Victoria slaps Lex and says they could have been great together. Lex comments, "I plan on being great all by myself."

Clark stops by to borrow Lana's necklace to use on Eric. At Eric's, the house is in shambles with a cop car stuck in the roof. Mr. Summers tells Clark that Eric was going to get rid of it. Clark knows that has to be the dam where it all began. Once there, Clark watches Eric jump off the dam and then he's right back on top with no damage. Eric grabs a live wire and proceeds to electrocute Clark, but Clark has Lana's kryptonite necklace in his hand. Both are knocked down and the necklace begins to hurt Clark again.

Everything is back to normal, and Clark is reminded how lucky he is to have good parents like the Kents. But for Lex things aren't so happy as the news reporter that had previously tried to blackmail him and is now on his payroll presents Lex with pictures of his father in bed with his girlfriend Victoria. The episode ends with Clark saying goodnight to Lana.
