Hothead   Smallville Episode Guide

Dan Lauria guest stars as Coach Walt Arnold, which is very interesting 
since he played Arnold's dad on the Wonder Years. The coach suffers from a very bad temper and when accompanied by his sauna filled with the meteor rocks, there is a deadly combination.

When told by the principal that some of his football players haven't made the grade
and will taken off the team, the Coach loses his temper and creates a real fire hazard.
The meteor rocks had given him the power to create fire using his mind. A blast of fire runs across the room.

The next day at school, the coach talks Clark into joining the football team against his father's advice. Jonathan is concerned that someone might get hurt, considering Clark's power and strength. Clark shows off a portion of his power on the football field, which disappoints Jonathan Kent greatly.

The principal confronts the coach about some football players caught cheating on tests. This makes coach very angry and when the principal goes to his car it catches on fire on the inside. Luckily for him Clark Kent is there. Clark rips open the car door and saves his life.

In the meantime, Lex has a disagreement with his dad about laying off workers, which turns into a fencing match that Lex loses. Lex manages to save the workers jobs and still cut the budget. This does not please his father.
Lex quote: " Dad you have no idea what I'm capable of."

Chloe gets photos of the coach yelling at the football players about getting caught cheating and ratting him out. While he is yelling, streams of fire are shooting out across the field. Unfortunately for Chloe, the coach finds out about the pictures putting her on his most not liked list. The school newspaper room goes up in flames. Chloe almost goes up with it till Clark shows up, and the coach lets go of his control of the flames.

Clark confronts the coach after seeing one of the football player's arms. The coach had roughed him up. When Clark finds the coach, he's in his sauna which is filled with kryptonite. Clark gets locked in the sauna while the football game starts outside.
Jonathan starts to worry since Clark is nowhere on the field.

Jonathan finds Clark and breaks down the sauna door but the coach shows up and pounds Jonathan. Luckily Clark regains his strength once out of the sauna away from the meteor rocks. After failing to barbecue Kent, the coach's anger ends up killing him as he toasts himself...literally.
